A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required to operate large commercial vehicles including semi-trucks, buses, and tankers. Federal law (FMCSA) requires all commercial drivers to hold a valid CDL with appropriate endorsements for their vehicle type.

How long does CDL training take?

What is ELDT and why does it matter?

ELDT (Entry-Level Driver Training) is the federal standard requiring CDL schools to be registered with FMCSA. Since February 2022, you can only take your CDL skills test after completing training at an ELDT-registered provider. CDL Schools USA only lists FMCSA-verified schools.
